Commentary: Thought I had already told this story on here, but here goes nothing. Was looking at a cool new release when I was a radio DJ in Texas in 2009. It was the beautiful Art of Field Recording from the Dust-to-Digital label. I was starting to learn about the label, which I still hold in high esteem for their meticulous curation. But I jumped with a start to see "Pearl Bryan" because that folk song tells the tale of a murder in my home town of 16,000 people from before its incorporation in the 1800s. So I got to play it on the radio and shout out Fort Thomas.

Commentary:
I didn't appreciate The Knife's Silent Shout when it came out in 2006; I don't know if there was any electronic music I enjoyed at that time. After Fever Ray's self-titled debut came out in 2009, I went back and revisited their earlier work with their brother. I really like this album, but this song gets stuck in my head. Last week I was gushing about Fever Ray to a friend and then the next day this song came on in a TV show we were watching together. I squealed. Of course the music video is weird and dark like them as well.
