Song: NYC Cops
Artist: Heems (Himanshu of Das Racist)
Album: Stroked: A Tribute to [The Strokes’ 2001 album] Is This It (2011)
Commentary: I've liked this song since it came out in 2011, but it's been in my head and heart a lot lately. A heavy listen, but an important chronicle of New York City's police murders
#BlackLivesMatter

"T5" by Swet Shop Boys
Song: T5
Artist: Swet Shop Boys
Album: Cashmere
Also try: Heems, Das Racist, not Riz MC's solo stuff (he's much improved in tandem with Heems)
Commentary: Loooove this album. Glad Heems is still kickin.

"Soup Boys (Pretty Drones)" by Heems
Song: Soup Boys (Pretty Drones)
Artist: Heems
Commentary:Himanshu Suri (of Das Racist) dropped a new solo mixtape last week and I like it better than his first, also of 2012. I like this track particularly, although I don't know what the drones thing is all about (Urban Dictionary has a lot of entries for 'drone'). The unmanned assassin ones? [Update: official vid now up. It was indeed the unmanned assassin drones in the video. Some are modest; some flaunt.]
